Home / Sustainability / Our Eco Story

We are delighted with this new eco-initiative. The quality of the uniform is excellent – you would never guess the material is made from recycled plastic and the added bonus is that it’s more hard wearing and colourfast than ordinary material.

Our Eco story starts in 2010. We started by pioneering the first ever Eco-uniform, with a fabric made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Ten years later our Eco-uniform range is looking even better with recycled polyester fabric extending across; all trousers, shorts, skirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts.

“By the end of 2020 we will have saved 40 million 2L plastic bottles from going to landfill since we first started Eco-uniform in 2010.”

Started working on the Eco-uniform concept. Launched with Eco-jacket.

We decided to make a commitment, all our Polyester Blazers and Jackets would be made from recycled polyester, there would not be a non-eco version available.

We became official Eco-Schools England partners.

Awarded the Bronze and Silver Environmental Business pledge awards.

2013 & 2014

Stopped 5.5 million bottles from going to landfill.

Our Eco-uniform won the MEN Environmental Award for innovation.

We extended the Eco-uniform to include trousers, skirts, sweatshirts and polo shirts, each item consisting of all or part polyester content made from recycled plastic bottles.

A total of 8.84 million 2 litre plastic bottles saved from landfill since 2013.

We produced our 1 millionth Eco-blazer, meaning we have prevented 16 million plastic bottles from going to landfill from our blazers alone. If we were to include all our Eco-uniform products, trousers, skirts, polos and sweats, the number of plastic bottles we have prevented from ending up in landfill is actually much larger.

We became the sponsors for the Eco Schools Marine topic! The collaboration will see David Luke take ownership of Eco School’s new ‘Marine’ topic. Ambitions for the project include working with the schoolwear brand’s collective of youth environmentalists known as ’16 Under 16’ to produce a series of school resources with a plastic pollution and marine focus including lesson plans and engaging assembly formats.

We launched a nationwide search to find the UK’s most inspiring young environmentalists. Branded as ’16 Under 16’

SCS Global Services has certified that the polyester fabrics we use in our eco-uniform products contains post-consumer waste. Between 30% and 100% of the fibre in the materials is recycled post-consumer waste.

To date, we have prevented 27 million plastic bottles from reaching landfill and have extended our eco-uniform range to include trousers, skirts, jumpers and the original blazer which is now our standard polyester product offering for schools.

Celebrated our Eco-versary, 10 years since we pioneered the use of recycled polyester in school uniforms.

We became members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). The Ethical Trading Initiative helps guide companies to trade ethically, to make a positive difference to workers' lives. By becoming a member of ETI, we commit to adopt and implement the ETI Base Code and to undertake activities intended to promote respect for workers’ rights and to achieve real improvements in working conditions within our business and supply chain.

It feels nice and soft, I’d like to wear it.
