David Luke sponsor International Spelling Bee in China

Recently, David Luke had the opportunity to be the proud sponsors of the 2017/18 Spelling Bee of China National Semi Finals in Shanghai. The popular event was held at Shanghai's East China Normal University and took place over 3 days. The prestigious Spelling Bee competition has 92 years of history and is referred to as the 'English Language Olympics'. Over the years, it has received high scholarship grants and funding from Washington and has even been attended in the past by the US president, as well as being followed and supported by the Ivy League group in the US. This year the event welcomed approximately 1,000 student Contestants and Teachers from 86 Schools from over 20 cities across China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Nanjing, Suzhou, proving again to be a great success. The Shanghai National Semi Finals was the biggest English language Spelling Bee ever to be held in China and has been reported as being the ‘most competitive’ to date. The Top 16 contestants from the event will go on to be finalists in the Beijing National Final in April to decide the national winner. The National Final will also select a student to represent China in the North America Global Challenge for secondary school children. Last year, the eventual winner and the runner up came from the Shanghai Semi Final so we wish all 16 contestants who have progressed to the next round the best of luck!
