Eco-Schools is a global programme engaging 19.5 million children and nearly 1.5 million teachers across 67 countries, making it the largest educational programme on the planet.
Since 1994, Eco-Schools England has been empowering students to drive change and improve their environmental awareness through the same simple Seven Step process that has been used successfully across the world. Their student-led programme involves hands-on, real-world learning, motivating the whole school and the wider community to take part in exciting environmental projects based on their nine Eco-Schools topics.
Each of the schools involved with the programme has actively tackled environmental issues from litter and waste recycling to healthy living and biodiversity. All have an overall interest in making their school more sustainable, including changing the behaviour of young people.
David Luke Eco uniform made from recycled plastic bottles is a really tangible link between the recycling process, the benefits and possible outcomes and many schools in England are now teaching lessons using the Eco Schools England lesson ideas, having the uniform and linking it all together. The pupils love to see the link to what they are actually wearing!
Why not get involved :
Lesson ideas are also available – useful for interested teachers
“Waste isn’t useless; it’s actually something you can use to make more things. You can recycle it into all different sorts of things”. Pupil, Aged 9, Altofts Junior School, Normanton.

The quality of the uniform is fantastic, my 3 year old son wears the trousers, he is very active, always climbing, falling over and getting himself filthy, the trousers are still as good as new. They wash brilliantly even on a 15 degree wash. Leighanne, Mum of three
