Our 6 step bottle to Eco-uniform process not only contributes to our mission to help protect the world we live in, it makes sure every Eco-uniform is equally durable and high in quality as our non-eco garments. You might also be surprised to find that the recycled bottles we use create a uniform that is just as soft and comfortable to wear, too. Amazing when you think how each uniform starts out.
Step 1: Plastic bottles are collected from recycling centres and brought to the re-processing factory. Here, they’re sorted into type and colour.
Step 2: The bottles are compacted into bales, before being stripped of their labels and washed ready for shredding.
Step 3: Each bottle is then shredded and passed through a processor, where it will be formed into uniform strands.
Step 4: The resulting strands are then cooled and cut to form a standard size chip. These chips are then packed and delivered to the yarn mill.
Step 5: The yarn is created through a process that produces a special eight-sided continuous filament, making sure there is the smallest amount of light reflection.
Step 6: Finally, the yarn is woven into an extremely durable twill, ready to make one of our very own Eco garments.
Every Eco garment we create helps retailers, schools, parents and their children make a positive difference to the environment. Our highly successful 6 step process lets us all put the planet first, without ever sacrificing on quality, durability or comfort.
I think the idea that it is made from recycled polyester is good and the fact that we're putting recycling to another use is fantastic. Alice, High School Pupil
